How to make kerala prawn curry

Ingredients:

300 gms prawns
Shallots (madras onions)…handful
Green chillies…2
Ginger…1 inch
Garlic… 6 to 7 flakes
Tomato… 1
Coconut… 1 cup
Turmeric powder
Chilli powder
Coriander powder
Methi powder
Curry leaves
Mustard seeds
Fenugrek (methi) seeds
Coconut oil
Garcinia (kodum puli in malayalam)

Method:

First marinate prawns with turmeric powder & salt

Use earthern pot for this preparation
Wash &  soak Garcinia in half cup water. Dry roast coconut with curry leaves for 5 minutes & grind to a paste.

Heat 3 to 4 spoons of coconut oil in the pot. Add mustard & methi seeds. Let it splutter. Add curry leaves & the small onions which are cut into pieces. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes.

Add the masalas & fry for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes & fry with closed lid till the tomatoes are cooked. Add the soaked garcinia along with the water to this masala.

Then add the prawns to this & cook on medium flame by adding 2 cups of water for 15 minutes. Then add the ground coconut paste to the above & cook for another 5 minutes.
Lastly add coconut oil & curry leaves & switch off the flame.  Tasty Kerala prawn curry is ready. Enjoy with rice.
